How do I set up an email forwarding address for my domain name?

Email forwarding is useful for passing emails received by one email address to another email address.

There are different ways of creating an email forwarding address, depending on the type of web hosting service you have with us.

Please follow the relevant instructions below to create an email forwarding address.

Use Domain Manager

If you have purchased a domain name from WiseInternet then you may enable Domain Manager in your Domain Name Management Console and setup email forwarding.

Emails cannot be collected, but they can be passed (forwarded) onto another email address.

Step 1.

Setup Domain Manager at your Domain Name Management Console – https://wiseinternet.partnerconsole.net

  1. Log in to the The Console  using your domain name Account Reference and Password.
    (See further information here about locating these credentials – Access Your Domain Name Information)
  2. Locate your domain name in the Overview list or search in Manage your domains
  3. Click on your domain name or Manage to be directed to the Dashboard (see below)

  4. Click on Settings > Domain Name
  5. On the Domain information page scroll down to Domain Manager section and click Add to cart

  6. On the Hosting & Extras page click + Add Hosting and + Select > Domain Manager (Free / 1 Month)
  7. Click Continue »
  8. Check “I agree to the terms…” and click Place your order »

Note: Adding Domain Manager adds the Zone Manager to your console. You will need to log out and log back in to see this. It can take a little while before the Zone Manager is activated on your domain name. So logout and come back later.

Step 2.

Setup Email Forwarding at your Domain Name Management Console – https://wiseinternet.partnerconsole.net

  1. Log into the The Console  using your domain name Account Reference and Password.

  2. Locate your domain name in the Overview list or search in Manage your domains
  3. Click on your domain name or Manage to be directed to the Dashboard for your domain.
    Additional icons have been added to the dashboard.

  4. Click Create New Email
  5. On the Manage email page change Email Status to ON
  6. When the page reloads go to Create an email account and select Alias account and click Create email
  7. In the Create a new alias account section enter:
    Alias name – A new email address using your domain name, e.g. you@yourdomain.com.au
    Target address – An existing email address where you will collect emails sent to you@yourdomain.com.au, e.g. you@gmail.com
    Click Create alias

Test your email alias by sending an email to this new email address.

Use WiseInternet SmarterMail

If you have a WiseInternet email account using SmarterMail then setting up an email forward is very simple.

  1. Log into your Webmail account – https://webmail.wiseinternet.net
  2. Click on Settings icon

  3. Click the Forwarding tab
  4. Enter Forwarding Address
    Check if you prefer messages deleted when forwarded, or have them remain in your inbox.
  5. Click Save above the tabs to remember these settings.
